I'm Simon Betton, a principal software engineer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I'm open to permanent Staff and Principal Software Engineer roles, as well as contract and freelance work. With 19 years in production software, I work across architecture, technical strategy, and delivery for TypeScript, React, React Native, and Node.js systems.

What to include
For a permanent role, a little about the team, the scope of the role, and the working arrangement is a useful start. For contract work, tell me about the product, the outcome you need, and your timeline. An initial introduction is welcome even if the details are still taking shape.
I am based in Auckland and typically work with teams in New Zealand, Australia, and remote-first companies. We can talk through the opportunity and whether it is a good fit.
